DJ and MC. Sam was amazing to work with in the lead up to our wedding and to Kyle who was an awesome DJ on the night. He kept all the bangers going and the dance floor full! The music was so great! An awesome mix and totally nailed our taste in music. Everyone had so much fun and had the BEST time. We couldn’t stop dancing all night.

Sara and Amy were a pleasure to work with! The bouquets, arbour and styling all looked stunning. The colour scheme really complemented our outfits and were beautiful. They’re very flexible and can cater to all budgets.

All the photos are beyond stunning!!! Sean really captured the fun and heartfelt moments. The colour, light and vibes are incredible, it was so hard to pick our favourites!

  • Peter Sol Make Up Artist

Peter did my hair and make up and totally turned me into a glowing bride! Super talented, professional and a total expert.

Jody did an absolutely incredible job with our cake, cupcakes and cookies. She delivered on taste (we had 4 different flavours of cupcakes) and they looked stunning.

Mira did a beautiful job on the bridemaids and Mother of the bride and groom She nailed the look and made them all feel comfortable.

Ashrae has an incredible, sultry and soulful voice. She did an awesome job during the ceremony and she helped set the vibe during our after ceremony drinks/canape hour.

Krin helped us with our first dance choreography and we couldn’t have done it without him! He made the process of learning it easy and fun. He also helped keep the party going with a salsa demo on the dance floor which got everyone fired up for the night.

  • Elia Crevar Celebrant

Elia worked with us to create a memorable, fun, heartfelt ceremony (complete with fake and real dolphins!).

Who was a stand out vendor and why?

All our vendors were amazing but the stand out for us was Walker Weddings – Sean and Marcel really made our whole bridal party feel at ease. They kept the day very chill, relaxed and fun! Just the vibe we wanted. The videos were awesome too and arrived 4 weeks after our wedding. Highly recommend.

Your venue: What made you pick this one?

We picked The Anchorage out of 3 venues in Port Stephens/Nelson Bay area.

We loved the relaxed yet luxurious Hamptons’ style vibe! It was in a more intimate, secluded area as well and we really liked the accommodation, the bar and the access to the marina and beach. It was nice to have the ceremony, location shots and reception all in one place which allowed us to maximise the day and not waste it travelling. The dolphins were a nice cherry on top!

What was your favourite moment looking back?

Our first dance! It was our ‘this is it’ moment when we were finally married and introduced as Mr and Mrs Kelly in front of our close friends and family, all cheering us on. We practiced our dance for months and it was just heaps of fun performing it together.

The real MVP…. Who was your party starter? Maybe it was you?

Nollsie! We were lucky enough to win a competition to have Nollsie rock our wedding thanks to Simon Curwood Jewellers. It was such an exciting surprise for our guests to have him perform at our reception and he was awesome! Definitely set the fun atmosphere for the night with everyone dancing and singing along.

Soundtrack to your day? and why these songs?

Walking down the aisle song – I believe in a thing called love by Nina Nesbitt. We loved that it was a romantic, slow version of the original by The Darkness which was a nice twist/throw back from our teen years.

Wedding certificate signing song – Special by Six60. It was Jen’s homage to New Zealand, where she grew up. We also saw Six60 performing live when we had a holiday in Perth a few years ago with John being one of the only Aussies in the crowd. As we would say, it was “mean as!”

Ceremony ending song – A mash up of Love on Top by Beyonce & Helpless from The Hamilton Musical. Jen couldn’t decide between the 2 songs so why not both.

Ashrae did an amazing job combining the 2 songs.

Your style?

Our style was pretty neutral with blush, brown, cream tones. The bridesmaids had terrecotta coloured dresses from Shona Joy which looked beautiful in the afternoon light when we were taking our photos on the beach. My wedding dress was an Ivory/Mocha tulle gown from Luv Bridal and as it got cooler in the evening, we all wore feather jackets from Bubish Luxe.

For the reception I changed into our first dance outfit which was white, Latin dance dress with red floral embellishments. My third and final outfit change was a sparkly mini dress from Winona.

The boys wore cream (or John would say “hommus”) coloured suits from Peter Jackson.

The Season? What time of year did you get married and why?

We got married at the start of June so it was just starting to get cold but we were prepared with jackets. The night before there was a massive storm but we got lucky with the weather the day of and it was a beautiful, perfect, sunny Winter’s day.

We chose this time of year as it was slightly cheaper than peak wedding season between September-March and it was nice not being sweaty and no flies!

Show us your absolute favourite image / Why is this your fav?

It truly captures how much fun, love and laughter we had on the day. We couldn’t swipe the smile off our faces the entire time.

If you could do it all again what would you tell yourself?

The months of planning is truly worth it! The whole day is filled with all the people you love with magical memories you’ll look back on. The small personal details really do add that special touch.

Don’t fall for traditions – incorporate the things you personally like as a couple, not because you’re “meant” to do them at weddings. If you have a budget, spend your money on items that are important to you like entertainment/music and food/drinks over stationary or a really expensive dress.

Also don’t take it too seriously. Enjoy every moment and have fun!

What’s next for you two love birds?

Surviving Covid and lock downs! Apart from that, our next project will be backyard renos and hopefully we’ll be able to go on our extended international honeymoon once borders open back up again!
